A dental implant is a strong and stable tooth replacement. Unlike a dental bridge, your implant functions independently of your surrounding teeth. Dental implants preserve and stimulate your remaining bone and gum tissue, and can also be used to stabilize a denture.
What is the treatment process like?
Your first dental implant appointment involves x-rays and impressions of your jaw and teeth. This determines the available bone and gum tissue that is necessary to accommodate your dental implant.
Once your implant is surgically placed allow four to six months for the tissue to heal. A transition period will follow to allow the bone to integrate with your implant. If required during the transitional period, a partial denture can be made to replace the missing tooth. This functions like a natural tooth and provides you renewed confidence in your treatment.
We take another impression of the top of the implant following approximately four months of healing. An abutment and permanent crown are created and placed on top of your implant.
Results
